Davenport threw a complete game three-hitter with 15 strikeouts to lead Hillsborough (11-5) to a gritty win over previously unbeaten Watchung Hills (16-1). Diya Patel went 2-4 with 2 RBI at the dish for Hillsborough in the win. It was a busy day on the diamond, and JSZ has action from all over the Garden State. Check back throughout the night as the highlights roll in! Don Bosco 12 Bergen Catholic 1 (5 innings) The No. 1 ranked team in New Jersey secured an early season series sweep against their arch rivals on Wednesday afternoon. Dozens of scouts were in to see flame-throwing right-hander Caden Dana and he cruised through five innings of work by striking our four and only allowing three hits for Don Bosco (7-2). Michael Staiano and Allen Hernandez paced the offense with three-RBI days apiece. The Ironmen defeated Bergen Catholic (4-4) on Monday at West Point to help lock up the sweep. Jersey Sports Zone reveals the brackets for the Last Dance Baseball Tournament. We’ve got all the matchups as 222 teams try to be the last team standing in Trenton on July 30. In case you missed our live show, check out all the brackets plus interviews with players and coaches around the state. The spring sports season was taken away from New Jersey high school athletes but thanks to an extraordinary effort by the New Jersey high school baseball community, sports is coming back and Garden State diamond squads get an incredible summer tournament for One Last Dance. JSZ presents the Last Dance Baseball Tournament Selection Show. Just like the NCAA Baseball Tournament, we have all the brackets, matchups and interviews with coaches and players from around the state. Click on the video below to watch the reveal of the 222 teams that will play in 32 different regions. We will have coverage of all nine days of the Tournament starting on July 14 with pool play around the state About the Last Dance Tournament 222 teams, 32 regions. Every team is guaranteed three games in modified pool play. Regions with four teams will play round robin with the best record advancing to the 32-team single elimination tournament that begins in week two. Eight team regions will have modified pool play in the first two days. Teams with 2-0 records will meet up on the final day to determine the region winner. While all the teams are varsity baseball players, the tournament is not associated with the NJSIAA and school uniforms will not be worn. A first half that saw no punts had Union leading the Panthers 31-28. In the third quarter the Farmers would get a stop that eventually led to 14 unanswered points and proved to be a deciding factor entering the fourth quarter. Union quarterback Andrew Sanborn finished with 265 passing yards and four touchdowns while Bridgewater-Raritan quarterback Alex Fromberg had 274 yards and four touchdowns as well. Williamstown 17 Shawnee 0 The Braves recorded their fifth shutout of the season with a win on the road against the Renegades. Dougie Brown ran for a touchdown to give Williamstown a 7-0 halftime lead, before Brendan Amico kicked a field goal to extend the lead to 10-0 in the third quarter. The Braves stopped Shawnee on a late fourth quarter drive, and then Chris Forman scored a touchdown to serve as an exclamation point. Williamstown stays undefeated at (8-0). Opening day for the 2019 boys soccer season extended into Day Two and we’ve got a couple great games on the menu. Seton Hall Prep gets some revenge on Montclair while Oakcrest starts the year with a bang. Seton Hall Prep 1 Montclair 0 Ranked No. 8 nationally by TopDrawer Soccer, Seton Hall Prep opened their 2019 season with a bang. Alex Trestka’s lone goal in 32′ proved to be the difference. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from Montclair: Oakcrest 8 Buena 0 The Falcons opened the 2019 season with an offensive explosion in Mays Landing. Mason Stokes, Asembo Augo and Gabe Paz each scored a pair of goals. Nick Cacopardo and Collin Veltri also added goals in the win over the Chiefs. JSZ Year in Review: Top Softball Games of 2019
Jersey Sports Zone is about capturing great video highlights. As we get ready to turn the page towards the 2019-20 school year, we take one more look back at the top games captured by our cameras. Our series continues with wrestling. First time champions, walk-offs, dominating pitching performances, New Jersey sets the bar high when it comes to softball. Here are our most viewed games of the 2019 season. 10. Cedar Grove 7 Buena 1 Cedar Grove remained amongst the top powers in the state throughout 2019. The Panthers raised a Group 1 State Championship thanks to 12 hits as pitcher Mia Faieta allowed just two and one earned run from the mound. 9. Lodi Immaculate 4 St. Joseph (Hammonton) 0 Immaculate Conception is no stranger to State Titles, the Blue Wolves captured their seventh straight Non-Public B Crown with a 4-0 shutout against St. Joseph (Hammonton). A huge 3-run home run from sophomore Christina Braid would open the lead late in this intense showdown. 8. Robbinsville 9 Steinert 5 Hard to top a better ending to a rivalry game than a grand slam to take the lead in the top of the seventh. Robbinsville’s Devon Witt can cross it off her bucket list as she propelled the Ravens to a 9-5 win over Steinert with one swing of the bat. 7. Steinert 10 Hamilton West 0 Reigning Tournament of Champion Winners Steinert began the season with an impressive 10-0 shutout over Colonial Valley Conference rival Hamilton West. It was a preview of things to come as the Spartans remained in the NJ Top 20 for all of 2019. 6. Donovan Catholic 10 Cedar Grove 0 The final softball game of the year saw a dominant power raise its very first Tournament of Champions Title. Donovan Catholic ended an impressive season with a huge win over a state power to make history. 5. Middletown North 5 Chatham 0 They may have been overlooked at times, but make no mistake Middletown North was in the driver’s seat the entire time. The Lions raised their very first Group 3 State Championship with a 5-0 win over Chatham. 4. Hightstown 9 Mount Olive 4 Emotions ran high in this battle of rookie State Title contenders. Highstown won its first ever group 4 state final following an impressive performance from pitcher Allie Bridgman that included 3 RBI’s and 10 strikeouts. 3. Westfield 8 Middletown North 6 It took 11 innings, but Westfield was able to best eventual State Champions Middletown North 8-6. A total of four home runs from both teams headlined this wild finish. 2. Ramsey 2 Bordentown 1 Who doesn’t like a walk-off? Emma Cunningham helped lead Ramsey to the Group 2 State Title with a heroic late inning hit for a 2-1 win over Bordentown. 1. Donovan Catholic 11 Mount Saint Donovan 1 Donovan Catholic continued a historic season as they captured their first Non-Public A State Title before winning the Tournament of Champions. DC edged Mount Saint Mary’s 11-1 to advance to the TOC Final.

Watch Sunday 6.2 State Championship Softball Highlights
Three more state champions are crowned on Sunday at Kean University. JSZ has the highlights and post-game reaction from all three title games. We’ve got Cedar Grove busting out a dozen hits on Buena, the first ever state title for Middletown North and the finale between Lodi Immaculate and St. Joe-Hammonton Lodi Immaculate 4 St. Joseph (Hammonton) 0 | Non-Public B Championship No. 8 in the NJ Top 20 Immaculate Conception (Lodi) grabbed their seventh straight Non-Public B Title with a close 4-0 victory over St. Joe’s (Hammonton). The Blue Wolves got ahead early on a solo homerun from Abby Tabaka in the the fourth inning. In the fifth it was Christina Braid’s turn as the Junior sent a three run shot over the left field wall to give Lodi a 4-0 lead. Pitcher Caylee English finished her complete game strong as she ended the day with just three hits allowed and six strikeouts. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights: Middletown North 5 Chatham 0 | Group 3 State Championship Malori Bell has arguably been the most consistent and dominant pitcher in New Jersey this season, so much so it surprised no one that she threw a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts as Middletown North won its first state championship in school history. The Lions exploded for four runs in the fifth inning to indefinitely take the lead. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from Kean University: Cedar Grove 7 Buena 1 | Group 1 State Championship The Panthers scored three runs each in the second and third innings as part of a 12 hit attack and Mia Faieta pitched a complete game two-hitter with eight strikeouts to give the Panthers the state title. Friday night baseball takes the JSZ team around the Garden State. Holy Spirit and Buena battled to the end in South Jersey, Ridge gets a pitching gem for a home win over Phillipsburg, CBA breaks out the bats and a shutout from Evan Mahns, plus Lawrence and Steinert can’t settle a winner. Holy Spirit 7 Buena 6 Steven Petrosh hit a solo home run to break a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning. Petrosh went 3-4 in the game. Jimmy Pasquale, Shane Solari, JJ Spots and Brandon Castellini also drove in runs for the Spartans in the win. Juice Del Valle drove in a pair of runs for the Chiefs in the loss. JSZ’s Mike Frankel has the highlights from this Cape Atlantic League United Division showdown: Steinert 6 Lawrence 6 It’s not everyday you need with an anomaly like a baseball game ending in a tie, for Lawrence it’s the second time this season they’ve known this dissatisfying feeling. Friday’s matchup Colonial Valley Conference division matchup saw eight lead changes and nine innings, yet it still wasn’t enough to decide a winner. Lawrence took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning before Steinert would eventually go ahead 4-3 in the fourth. The slug fest would continue into extra innings and after the Spartans tied the game in the bottom of the ninth officials claimed it would be too dark to finish. With DePaul at the 2 yard line on the last play, Mater Dei’s Tahaj Parland made a leaping deflection to seal the win. The regular season comes to a close in New Jersey high school football and JSZ brings you eight games of highlights in the rain and wind. St. Peter’s Prep and St. Joe’s-Montvale battled for playoff positioning, the MAPL final between Peddie and Hun came down to the final play, plus we’ve got big regular-season finale wins for Delbarton and Edison. The win puts St. Joe’s at 7-2 on the season and they’re in the driver’s seat to a top seed in the Non-Public Group 4 playoffs. Friday’s matchup was more of a one sided battle early on. The Green Knights were able to get ahead in the first two quarters with their ground and pound offense for a 2 score lead at the half. In the second act after letting up a touchdown to make it a one score game sophomore running back Audric Estime answered back with a 61 yard touchdown to shift the momentum back to St. Joe’s. Quarterback Michael Alaimo finished 8-14, for 99 passing yards and two touchdowns.
