With the state playoffs just on the horizon, JSZ brings you a pair of title games from the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament and the Mercer County Tournament!


Vineland 11 Buena 3 | Cape-Atlantic League Tournament Final

The Fighting Clan scored early and often to bring home their first CAL championship since 2017. Yenuelle Rodriguez homered while Donny Gomez and Xavier Cortez both had two RBI days for third-seeded Vineland (17-8). Benny Andreoli scattered three hits over six innings, and chipped in at the plate with a RBI triple in the victory. Tre Carano and Cole Shover drove in runs in the loss for top-seeded Buena (22-3)

Allentown 5 Hun 3 | Mercer County Tournament Final

(6) Allentown defeated Hun (4) 5-3 to raise their first Mercer County Tournament Championship since 2017. The Redbirds went ahead 4-0 in the second inning on an error and two RBI’s from Rutgers commit Jack Sweeney. Hun would quickly cut the deficit to 4-3 following RBI’s from Michael Olender and Michael Jolly in the third inning and Nico Amencangelo in the fourth. Allentown would score on a bases loaded walk in the fifth to lead 5-3. Scott Bruett closed out the game on the mound for the Redbirds after coming in for relief of NJIT commit Eddie Werse who earned MVP honors for his five innings pitched and five strikeouts.
