Don Bosco 12 Bergen Catholic 1 (5 innings)

The No. 1 ranked team in New Jersey secured an early season series sweep against their arch rivals on Wednesday afternoon. Dozens of scouts were in to see flame-throwing right-hander Caden Dana and he cruised through five innings of work by striking our four and only allowing three hits for Don Bosco (7-2). Michael Staiano and Allen Hernandez paced the offense with three-RBI days apiece. The Ironmen defeated Bergen Catholic (4-4) on Monday at West Point to help lock up the sweep.

Ranney 14 St. Mary’s (Rutherford) 0 (5 innings)

Charlie Chropuvka hit a mammoth home run to dead center and Diego Tavarez added a blast to support Marcello Mastroianni and Jack Renaud’s combined five-inning no-hitter as Ranney (8-1) handed St. Mary’s (10-1) its first loss of the season. The Panthers rebounded from a 3-2 loss to Rumson-Fair Haven with a dominating performance. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Tinton Falls:

East Brunswick 4 South Brunswick 2

East Brunswick defeated South Brunswick 4-2 to improve to 6-4. The Bears trailing 1-0 for most of the afternoon got a lift in the fifth inning off a solo home run from Jason Agrait to tie the game at 1-1, they tacked on two more runs in the inning. Despite giving up a home run in the second, Michael Marchese finished with 12 strike outs and two earned runs. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Delsea 9 Woodstown 2

The Crusaders took an early lead and never looked back, running their record to (7-1). Konnor Reilly paced Delsea with three RBIs on the day. Jake Watson struck out six in five innings of work to earn the win on the mound. Lucas Prendergast had an RBI for Woodstown (4-4) in the loss.

Buena 4 Schalick 1

The Chiefs led 2-1 after some first inning fireworks, and battled for a hard-fought win to stay undefeated. Zach Strouse picked up a complete game win on the mound with five strikeouts. Brady Betts knocked in a pair of RBIs in the win for Buena (6-0). Cole DuBois had the lone RBI in the loss for Schalick (4-2).
