Jersey Sports Zone wraps up our Week 0 coverage. When you add it all up, 20 games of action spread over three days. Watch a preview below and then scroll down to watch the highlights from all four games! Cliffside Park 26 Ferris 19 | Lukkas Londono 75 yard game winning TD! What started as a one-sided battle turned into a second-half thriller in Jersey City. Ferris coming off a 1-9 year played fearlessly in the first two quarters putting up 19 straight points. However, after halftime Cliffside Park guided by QB Antonio Diperi was able to get it to a 19-18 game with under a minute remaining in the fourth. That would set up a game winning 75-yard touchdown run from sophomore Lukkas Lonodo. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the call: Ramapo 21 Sparta 18 | AJ Wingfield 256 Total Yds, 2 TDs The Ramapo Raiders took down the Sparta Spartans on the road 21-18. AJ Wingfield was a power in the backfield, utilizing his wide receivers and throwing for 196 yards. Luke Ragone had two touchdowns as well, one receiving and the other rushing, for a total of 80 yards. Check out Ramapo’s highlights now: DePaul 48 Pope John 7 TaQuan Roberson had 3 TD passes, a 40 yard TD run and accounted for nearly 300 yards of total offense as the Spartans opened the 2018 season with a dominating effort on the road. JSZ has the highlights from Sparta: Weequahic 33 Morris Catholic 0 Tyler Phillips led Weequahic with 176 yards and 2 TDs as the Indians took down Morris Catholic, 33-0, on Saturday afternoon. Phillips led the charge with a dazzling 65-yard touchdown run on fourth down where he broke 12 tackles en route to the end zone. JSZ’s Jay Cook was in Newark for the highlights:

Oak Knoll 19 Pingry 4 – Group 1 State Championship Oak Knoll dominated Big Blue in the Group 1 State Final at Kean University. Katie Duttenhofer and Claire Galvin led in scoring with six goals, while Katie Kelly had nine assists. Check out highlights of this impressive offensive performance now: Haddonfield 18 Sparta 11 – Group 2 State Championship The Bulldogs raced out to an 11-5 halftime lead on the way to the school’s first-ever girls lacrosse state championship. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from the Group 2 title game: Moorestown 7 Summit 6 – Group 3 State Championship The Quakers scored two goals 33 seconds apart in the second half to take back the lead from the Hilltoppers and used stingy defense to hold on for its 23rd state championship. Kayla Frank led the attack with a hat trick and Robin Panzarella had two goals and two assists including the game winner. Clearview vs. Ridgewood – Group 4 State Championship After being eliminated in the first round of the Group 4 state playoffs following their Sectional Title win last season, No. 1 Ridgewood bounced back to win their third State Championship in four years against Clearview. The maroons jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to Lillie Kloak who would wound up with an early hat trick in the first half, but Clearview countered to cut the lead 8-4 at the break. In the second half the Pioneers would keep it a close game, coming within 3 goals, but Ridgewood led by Marley Scala who scored 4 times would hold on to win 12-9. Red Bank Catholic 7 Monmouth Regional 6 (8 innings) David Glancy launched three towering solo homers in three consecutive at-bats as the Caseys rallied for an extra-innings win. RBC had a 6-2 lead in the 6th inning after Glancy’s third blast of the game, but Monmouth Regional rallied for four runs in the bottom of the frame starting with an Eli Rife 2-run homer, a Justin Scotto RBI double and a Ricky Voss base hit to left that plated Scotto. In the 8th, Ryan O’Hara hit a fly ball to left that was dropped bringing home Glancy with the game-winning run. Watch the highlights of a wild game in Tinton Falls! Toms River North and Toms River South were tied at 2, before the Mariners erupted for 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th, capped off by a 3-RBI Home Run from Penn bound Craig Larsen. Hudson Catholic – 95 Marist – 43 Hudson County Tournament Quarterfinals Luther Muhammad poured in a season high 32 points while grabbing 8 boards, and Villanova bound point guard Jahvon Quinerly dished out 11 assists to go along with 15 points as Hudson Catholic came away with a 95-43 win over Marist in the Hudson County Tournament QuarterFinals. The No. 1 seeded Hawks advance to play Lincoln in the Semi-Finals on Tuesday Night. Watch Highlights of Hudson Catholic vs Marist below! Notre Dame 91 Steinert 70 – Mercer County Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday’s game between fourth seed Notre Dame and fifth seed Steinert was the match up most knew was inedible at some point in the Mercer County Tournament. These two were some of the Colonial Valley Conference’s best in the 2017-2018 season. The Fighting Irish took a 22-16 lead at the end of the first then Notre Dame began piling on the points from beyond the arc thanks to Kayla Burnett who had 17 to take a 48-33 lead at half time. ND would continue it’s stunning performance in the second half to eventually walk away with a 91-70 win to send them to the Semifinal round to face number one seed Trenton Catholic on 2/20. Trenton 66 Hopewell Valley 40 – Mercer County Tournament Quarterfinals It was the second meeting for third seed Trenton and sixth seed Hopewell Valley in a little over a week and the Tornadoes were able to put on another spectacular performance against HVC, this time in the Mercer County Tournament quarterfinals. Trenton got ahead early to go into halftime leading 33-12. In the second half Reggie James would take over to rack up 12 points, six rebounds and five assists in the 66-40 win against the Bulldogs. North Hunterdon 79 Voorhees 65 – Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Boys Semifinals North Hunterdon trailed their district rivals, the Voorhees Vikings, early in this game; however, that seems to be a trend with these Lions. They made a comeback last week against the Vikings and did it once again during the HWS Semis. Paul Woolhouse came up big for the Lions with 22 points and a complete domination under the basket. Check out full highlights now: Pope John 58 Central 53 – Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Boys Semifinals Pope John previously knocked out the No. 1 seed of the HWS tournament, Phillipsburg, and was faced with another challenge during the semifinals when they met the Hunterdon Central Red Devils. However, Aaron Clark for the Lions shined, scoring 29 points, while Eddie Davis contributed 22. The two guards provided enough momentum to pull off the upset late in the fourth quarter. Full highlights now available: High Point 40 Sparta 35 – Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Girls Semifinals No. 1 seed, High Point, gets a scare in the second quarter of this one thanks to an offensive push by Sparta’s Erin Walsh. However, the Spartans could not hold on to that short-lived lead and the No. 1 seed would remain onto with a 40-35 victory over Sparta. Trisha Peterson contributed 14 for the Wildcats. Check out her highlights and more now: Delaware Valley 28 Warren Hills 27 – Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Girls Semifinals In an unbelievable turn of events, the Del Val Lady Terriers find a way to shock the Warren Hills Blue Streaks in the final 11 seconds of this HWS semifinal game. Amanda Kix not only led the team in scoring, but she made the last second shot that sealed the deal for the Terriers. Check out those highlights now: Red Bank Catholic 68 Colts Neck 33 – Shore Conference Tournament Girls Quarterfinals Amanda Hart had a career-high 20 points to lead four Caseys in double digits as the #3 seed was dominant against the #11 seed. Hart had four three-pointers as the Caseys had a total of 10 triples. Rose Caverly scored 13, Katie Rice added 11 and Hayley Moore scored 10 as the Caseys improve to 20-4 and secured a spot in the SCT semifinals.
