It’s state semifinal Wednesday for high school boys’ soccer! JSZ has highlights from around the state as teams punched their ticket to this weekend’s state championships at Franklin High School.


Seton Hall Prep 5 Bergen Catholic 3 | Boys | Non-Public “A” North Final

A two-goal game from striker Eddie Krupski fueled the Pirates’ ride to capturing a third-straight sectional championship Wednesday. Krupski has scored a team-high 21 goals for Seton Hall Prep (19-2) this season, who has yet to lose to a Garden State squad this season. Joaquin Niehenke and Luca Chirichiello also scored for the Pirates in the win. The No. 1 overall ranking in New Jersey is on the line Saturday morning when the Pirates face off against CBA in the Non-Public A state championship game at Franklin High School.

CBA 1 St. Peter’s Prep 0 | Boys | Non-Public “A” South Final

Will Thygeson’s goal in the 68th minute was the only goal of the match as the Colts return to the state championship for a second straight year.  CBA will take on Seton Hall Prep in a rematch of last year’s state final won by the Pirates 2-0.  The Colts have now won 18 straight matches and have yet to surrender a goal in the state playoffs.

West Orange 3 Westfield 1 | Boys | Group 4 State Semifinal

West Orange advanced to their first Group 4 state final since 2015 following a 3-1 win over Westfield. The Mountaineers got out to a hot start as goals from Jack Dvorin, Arthur Rosu and Mason Bashkoff gave them a 3-0 advantage at the break. Westfield would score early in the second half, but it was the only of the afternoon allowed by West Orange keeper Justin Scavalla, Scavalla  finished with 11 saves. The Mountaineers will take on Cherokee in the final.

Delran 2 Holmdel 1 | Boys | Group 2 State Semifinal

The Bears fell behind early after an own goal but battled back to reach the state finals and continue their quest to repeat as state champions in Group 2. Drew Roskos netted both goals in the victory as the junior has now scored seven goals in the postseason. Mike Papi finished with a pair of assists in the win for Delran (13-3-5). Ilan Golden racked up eight saves in the loss for Holmdel (18-3-1). Delran will face the winner of Ramsey and Harrison for the Group 2 state title on Sunday.

Cherokee 1 Freehold Twp. 0 | Boys | Group 4 State Semifinal

Pressure off a Chiefs set piece led to an own goal in the first half, as Cherokee punched a ticket to a state title game for the first time in 11 years. The Chiefs will square off against West Orange in the Group 4 final on Sunday in Franklin.
