A run of six straight victories from 165 pounds through heavyweight propelled the Green Knights to their first win over the Crusaders in 25 years. Trailing 18-7 at the midpoint of the match, St. Joe’s Mont. (14-2) stacked win after win in the heart of their lineup. Michael Dellagotta’s tech fall at 190, Aidan Schlett’s sudden victory takedown at 215 and heavyweight Jimmy Mullen’s 100th career victory were all highlights in this matchup of two non-public powerhouses. Bergen Catholic (12-1) now has to turn around and face No. 2 nationally-ranked Wyoming Seminary (PA) and No. 1 ranked Blair Academy to close out this week.

Delbarton 48 Southern 12

Tyler Vazquez, Simon Ruiz, Vincent Lee and Connor Martin all pinned for the Green Wave to help take down the Rams. Alessio Perentin and Louis Cerchio added bonus points with tech falls for Delbarton (14-2). Wyatt Stout and Matt Henrich won overtime decisions for Southern (11-1) in the loss.
