Bergen Catholic 1 Clifton 1 (2OT) | Boys

A showdown between two top teams in the Big North Conference ended in a draw; albeit an exciting one. Bergen Catholic (1-1-1) and Clifton (1-0-1) went toe-to-toe in a tough, physical game from opening whistle to the closing horn. BC’s Javier Torres and Clifton’s Simon Deossa each found the back of the net in this 100 minute battle.

Elizabeth 2 Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1 | Boys

Elizabeth improved to 2-1 following a close 2-1 victory over Union County Conference Watchung Division foe Scotch Plains-Fanwood. With the game tied at 1-1 late in the second half, freshman Edgar Doh’s goal with 4:20 remaining would decide the contest.

St. Augustine 1 Egg Harbor Township 0 | Boys

Andreas LaRosa headed in a goal in the 74th minute to lift the Hermits to victory in this battle between Cape-Atlantic League contenders. Christian Torpey assisted on the goal, while Mason Taylor earned the clean sheet in net for St. Augustine (3-0). The Eagles fell to (1-1) with the loss.

Ella Cadigan scored on a give and go from Bridget Morrison and Cat Angel added a late second-half goal to get the Blue Devils to 3-0 on the season. The #1 ranked team in the state polls and defending state champion is also ranked 4th in the latest prepsoccer.com national top 50. Catherine King was outstanding in a losing effort with 15 saves.
