(5) Point Pleasant Boro 6 (1) Governor Livingston 1 – Central Jersey Group 2 Semifinal
Nick Guzzi was sensational on the hill throwing a complete game one-hitter with nine strikeouts and just two walks to give Point Pleasant Boro a spot in the Central Jersey Group 2 championship. Guzzi gave up a long homer to Georgia Tech commit Drew Compton in the first, but that was the only hit of the game for the Highlanders. Point Boro took advantage of an error to score three runs in the top of the 2nd and Guzzi helped himself out with an RBI single in the 4th. (8) Don Bosco 2 Bergen Catholic 1 – North Non-Public A Semifinal
It’s never a dull moment when Big North Conference rivals Don Bosco and Bergen Catholic face off, Thursday’s North Non-Public A Tournament Semifinal was no exception. The game originally played on 5/29 was postponed after the fourth inning due to rain and was continued Thursday evening. The No. 12 Ironmen began with a two run lead before BC got on the board off a Juan De La Cruz RBI in the bottom of the sixth to make it 2-1. However, Villanova commit Devin Rivera was able to get the job done on the mound in the seventh to set up a date with No. 1 Delbarton in the title game. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:
