The state playoffs are heating up and JSZ has plenty of coverage as we head into the weekend!


Mainland 3 Shawnee 1 | South Group 3 Quarterfinal

The ninth-seeded Mustangs stunned the top-seeded Renegades to advance to the sectional semifinals. Nick Wagner drove in two runs with an RBI single in the 6th inning before Wagner came around to score on an error on the same play. Cohen Cook pitched a gem, striking out seven allowing no earned runs in 6 2/3 innings of work for Mainland (11-13). James Madison commit Jackson Logar struck out nine in a complete game effort for Shawnee (21-4).

Cranford 8 Ferris 0 | North 2 Group 3 Quarterfinal

Sean Woodruff’s recent dominance on the mound keeps the Cougars’ season right on track. Woodruff tossed six shutout innings of work as second-seeded Cranford (26-0) logged a lopsided win over the Bulldogs. Six of Cranford’s eight runs came in a rousing second inning outburst highlighted by an RBI double from Ryan Jaros and an RBI single from Ryan Carracino. Tenth-seeded Ferris (14-9) saw their season come to an end at the hands of Cranford for the second-straight season.

Seneca 7 Cedar Creek 2 | South Group 2 Quarterfinal

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they soar into the SJ Group 2 semifinals. Rowan commit Brayden Davis smashed his third home run of the postseason and finished with 3 RBI in the win. Aydan Davis was fantastic on the mound, picking up a complete game win for nine-seed Seneca (11-13). Jerry McGowan scored twice in the loss for top-seed Cedar Creek (19-8). Seneca will face four-seed Haddonfield next Tuesday.

Middletown North 4 Allentown 3 | Central Group 3 Quarterfinal

Dylan Briggs RBI single scored Ryan Frontera with the game-winning run to cap off a two-run rally in the seventh inning to give the defending state champs a spot in the Central Jersey Group 3 semifinals and a showdown with crosstown rival Middletown South.  The Lions scored two runs in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead before Allentown answered with two runs in the sixth to go back out in front.   RJ Kernan tied the game on an RBI groundout setting the stage for Briggs and his heroics.

Rumson-Fair Haven 7 Bordentown 2 | Central Group 2 Quarterfinal

Owen Kenney had three RBI’s and Jack Riva added two hits and two RBI’s to help RFH race out to a 4-0 lead on the way to a spot in the Central Jersey Group 2 semifinals.  The RFH bullpen threw four shutout innings to set the stage for a matchup with Ocean Township this Tuesday.
