Don Bosco Prep 67 Hudson Catholic 44 | Boys | Non-Public “A” North Semifinal

An inspired third quarter showing boosted the Ironmen from a five-point halftime deficit to a 23-point win. In a matchup of McDonald’s All-Americans, it was Dylan Harper who got the best of Tahaad Pettiford in the state playoffs. Don Bosco star Dylan Harper led all scorers with 26 points in the win. The Ironmen trailed at the half thanks to a brilliant performance from Pettiford, but he did not play in the second half due to a knee injury. Pettiford logged six points but did not play in the third and fourth quarters due to an apparent knee injury. The Ironmen advance to face St. Peter’s Prep on Monday in the Non-Public A North sectional final.

Red Bank Catholic 59 St. John Vianney 51 | Girls | Non-Public “A” South Semifinal

Christina Liggio scored 14 and Tessa Carman added 12 to lead the Caseys to their first win over the St. John Vianney in seven years.  The game took a dramatic turn when a collision between RBC leading scorer Addy Nyemchek and SJV center Taylor Sofilkanich saw Nyemchek leave the game due to a head injury.  The Caseys had a three-point lead a that stage late in the third quarter and used a fourth-quarter surge to play inspired basketball for their injured teammate.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Sophie Smith and Liggio opened a nine point lead and RBC was able to put the game away at the free throw line.  RBC will take on Paul VI in the section final on Monday.
