Tickets are starting to be punched for teams headed to next week’s hockey state championships at The Prudential Center. We kick off the semifinal round coverage with the two games in this year’s Non-Public bracket. Stay tuned for all our coverage coming tonight!

St. Augustine 4 Delbarton 2 | Non-Public Semifinal

The defending state champions will officially get a chance to repeat after winning a rematch of last year’s state final. Third-seeded St. Augustine (14-5-1) put together arguably its most complete performance of the season at just the right time. Four different players – Dale Curtis, Lucas Riccardi, Kalib Capecci and Cameron DeLeo – each lit the lamp in the win. Star goaltender Bobby Kennedy stopped 24 shots in the win. No. 2 seed Delbarton (17-7) has now had their season come to an end at the hands of St. Augustine for the second year in a row. Max Pendy scored his 26th goal and 51st total point in the loss.

Don Bosco Prep 2 Christian Brothers Academy 1 | Non-Public Semifinal

Matt Shpungin’s one-timer off a brilliant pass from Dean Toskos with 6:35 to go in the third period broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Gordon Cup champions a spot in the state finals on Monday at the Prudential Center against Saint Augustine.  Nick Desiderio gave CBA a 1-0 lead in the first period on a snipe between the circles.  Erik Wrynn tied the game for Don Bosco in the second setting the stage for Shpungin’s third period heroics.  James Tarabocchia had 34 saves in the win.
