Good Counsel (MD) 28 St. Joseph (Mont.) 21
Saturday’s matchup between powerhouses Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD) and St. Joseph (Montvale) did not disappoint as Garden State football fans were treated to an all-out battle for four quarters. GC would lead 21-7 in the second, behind University of Georgia recruit Neeo Avery, before Joe’s would rally back with scores from Yasin Willis and Jayden Wimberly to tie the game at halftime. With Avery out due to injury in the fourth quarter, sophomore Frankie Weaver would take over quarterback duties and led Good Counsel to a 28-21 victory after the Green Knights failed to convert on a fourth and long in the closing minute.
