St. Peter’s Prep 61 Paramus Catholic 0

The season openers for two new Super Football Conference head coaches couldn’t have been more different. Rich Hansen III and St. Peter’s Prep pounded the rock for five touchdowns and leaned on an aggressive front seven to control the pace of the game. Paramus Catholic, led by their new head coach Steve Rybak, mustered only 43 total yards in the losing effort.

Salem 22 Camden 20 | Battle at the Beach

The Rams made the most of their trip to the shore, knocking off The High in Ocean City. Nathan Wilson kicked a 37-yard field goal to give Salem the lead for good with three minutes left in the game. Luis Ward threw a pair of touchdown passes to Hamin Anderson for Camden in the loss.

St. Joseph Academy 31 Northeast (PA) 18 | Battle at the Beach

The Wildcats raced out to a 31-6 lead, beating one of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s top teams to open the season. Cohl Mercado was sensational in the victory, as the Boston College baseball commit caught a touchdown pass and rushed for a score. Ja’son Prevard threw a pair of touchdown passes, while Jahqir Haley returned an interception for a score.

Ocean City 21 Vineland 0 | Battle at the Beach

The Red Raiders turned in a dominant performance, shutting down the Fighting Clan to open up the 2021 season. Senior RB Jacob Wilson led the way for the Ocean City offense, rushing for a pair of touchdowns on the night. Junior QB Riley Gunnels added a rushing touchdown of his own to cap off the scoring.

Delran 27 Willingboro 14

Zach Palmer-Smith had 162 yards and three touchdowns but the Bears needed to hold off a 4th quarter rally from the Chimeras to preserve an opening night victory. Delran had a 20-0 lead at the end of three quarters before Willingboro stormed back. Connor Daly preserved the win with a 34 yard TD run and an interception in the final minute. Carteret 37 J.P. Stevens 0

With no season in 2020 due to Covid-19, it was an emotional and electrifying home opener for Carteret. The Ramblers ran their unbalanced single wing offense efficiently in the first two quarters to lead 30-0 at halftime. Kanye Groover finished with 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
