The opening weekend of the 2022 football season continues with a great Saturday slate of games across New Jersey. Check back throughout the night as the highlights are posted!


Seton Hall Prep 32 Delbarton 27 | Super Football Conference

Despite being down 21-7 late in the second quarter, No. 15 Seton Hall Prep was able to hold off rival No. 10 Delbarton 32-27 in a thrilling comeback victory. With a pair of lead changes in the fourth quarter it was Liam Londergan’s 13 yard touchdown pass to Julius Vicari as twenty four seconds remained to give the Pirates their first win of the season. Bergen Catholic 49 Cardinal Gibbons (NC) 14

The Crusaders are back with a vengeance to defend their 2021 undefeated season. Bergen Catholic’s defense was dominant from the get-go in a physical showdown with a reigning North Carolina state champion. Texas commit Sydir Mitchell had a 25-yard fumble return TD with two sacks, Anthony Perrotti logged a 95-yard kick return TD, and Saeed St. Fleur and DJ Samuels each logged two rushing touchdowns apiece in a lopsided win. Bergen Catholic (1-0) now turns their focus to nationally-ranked power Saguaro (AZ), who they face on the road next week.

St. Peter’s Prep 41 St. Augustine 7 | Battle at the Beach

The Marauders raced out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in Ocean City. Maryland commit Champ Long threw four touchdown passes in the victory. Kenyon Massey had a pair of TD catches, while Jalen Cline rushed for a pair of scores. Ryan Gambill threw a TD pass to Na’Cire Christmas for the Hermits’ only touchdown of the day. Red Bank Catholic 33 St. John Vianney 7 | Battle at the Beach

Frankie Williams had three TD passes and a 19-yard TD run in his debut as Caseys quarterback as the defending state champs rolled out 33 first-half points on the way to a convincing win at the Battle at the Beach. Robert Stolfa had a 74-yard TD catch and Emanuel Ross had a 55-yard scoring play with Najih Rahman catching a 6-yard score. Toms River North 28 Washington Twp. 21 | Battle at the Beach

The Mariners scored 14 points in 15 seconds in the third quarter to seize the momentum and bring home a season-opening victory. Micah Ford scored three total touchdowns to lead the way for Toms River North (1-0). Jeremiah Pruitt provided one of the plays of the day with a 25-yard pick-six to open up a two touchdown lead for the Mariners in the third quarter. Jared Dzierzgowski rushed for three touchdowns in the loss for Washington Twp. (0-1).
