With the state playoffs ready to commence on Monday, Saturday was more conference tournament baseball action. JSZ brings you a pair of games from the Shore Conference Tournament plus Montclair’s impressive win in the Greater Newark Tournament. We’ll be posting all three games throughout Saturday evening!

(4) Montclair 12 (2) Seton Hall Prep 1 – Greater Newark Tournament Final

Conor McGrath picked the perfect time to have a career day. The Montclair leadoff man was a menace at the plate, belting a three-run inside-the-park home run while knocking in 6 RBI in the Mounties’ stellar 12-1 over Seton Hall Prep. Starting pitcher Kyle Miller went the distance with 5 IP and 5 K’s in the win. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from Verona:

(4) Red Bank Catholic 3 (13) Howell 0 – Shore Conference Tournament 2nd Round

Shane Panzini pitched five scoreless innings and Vin Bianchi came on in relief for two more scoreless frames as the Caseys used a three-run third to advance to the quarterfinals of the SCT. Alex Gonzalez had an RBI single and David Glancy roped an RBI double to left in the third. A wild pitch allowed Gonzalez to score the final run of the game. RBC will face #5 seed Jackson Memorial in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Red Bank:

(1) Middletown South 6 (16) Brick Memorial 1 – Shore Conference Tournament 2nd Round

Chris Lotito gave up a first inning run and settled in with six shutout frames as the Eagles used a three-run second to stake to a lead and cruised into the quarterfinals of the Shore Conference Tournament. The top seed Eagles will host #8 Manasquan in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Robby Zega was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 runs scored in the win.
