JSZ begins a new week with three great games around the Garden State!


Colts Neck 71 Middletown North 66 | Boys

Will Surdez found an open Dom Beninato under the basket for a hoop and foul with 12.4 seconds left to break a 66-66 tie and Vova Trotsko grabbed a rebound and sank two free throws to seal the win for the 7-2 Cougars.  Trotsko, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Ukraine tied his career high with 26 points.  Middletown North had five players in double figures with Mac Colantonio leading the way with 17.

Spotswood 63 Middlesex 44 | Boys

Spotswood (7-3) picked up a third straight win following a 63-44 victory over GMC Blue Division rival Middlesex (7-3). The Chargers led 32-12 after two quarters as junior Kiye Walker had 14 first-half points. Middlesex would cut the deficit to nine in the third quarter thanks to a 7-0 run from Tommy Lavornia, but Spotswood would lead 47-26 entering the fourth. Kiye Walker finished with 26 points while Daniel Yarus had 14. Tommy Lavornia ended the evening with 22 points for Middlesex.

Ocean City 40 Middle Township 35 | Girls

The Red Raiders won a tight battle over the Panthers in this Cape May County rivalry game. Tori Vliet led the way for OC (8-2) with a game-high 18 points. Jada Elston scored 13 points for Middle (9-3) in the loss.
