Shawnee 51 Trenton 40 – Group 4 Semifinals

Dylan Deveney scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Shawnee reaches the state finals for a second straight year.  Dean Noll added 16 for the Renegades who held a 24-18 halftime lead and never surrendered the lead in the second half.  JSZ has highlights of the Group 4 semifinals from Egg Harbor:

Newark Central 54 Ramsey 47 – Group 2 Boys Semifinals

It has been seven years since North 2 Group 2 Champs Newark Central have hoisted a state title and the Blue Devils got one step closer as they took down North 1 Group 2’s Ramsey. Central got ahead early taking a 26-14 lead at halftime over the Rams. Dee-End McRae who had 18 on the night was the spark plug that kept this ttight-knitgroup together to walk away with a victory after four quarters of dominating basketball. East Side 59 Hackensack 48 – Group 4 Boys Semifinals

North 2 Group 4 Champs and Number 8 in the NJ Top 20 Newark East Side is seeking their first state title since 2014, but before they can think about a championship they would have to worry about the North 1 Group 4 title winners, Hackensack. The Comets took an early 18-6 lead over East Side at the end of the first quarter and maintained a 25-23 lead going into halftime. However, Shamir Johnson would come alive in the third quarter to help the Red Raiders take the lead and thanks to his 19 point performance East Side would eventually take the match up 59-48. They will face Southern Champions and fellow NJ Top 20 royalty Shawnee on 3/11 at Rutgers University. Watch the highlights:
