Bergen Catholic 23 Don Bosco Prep 17

In the 72nd meeting between these two North Jersey foes, it was Bergen Catholic getting the upper hand once again to secure their fourth consecutive win over Don Bosco Prep. The Crusaders rushed 49 times for 240 yards and two touchdowns while Amar Gist came through with the play of the night, a 47-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter.

Phillipsburg 34 Ridge 28 (2OT)

It was headlined by some as the Mid-State 38 game of the week and the matchup between undefeated teams Phillipsburg and Ridge definitely lived up to the hype. Despite falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter the Stateliners answered back with 21 points off three Matt Quetel touchdowns. After Ridge would force double overtime, Quetel would find the end zone a fourth and final time to help P-Burg get the win. He finished the day with 154 rushing yards on 34 attempts and four touchdowns. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Shawnee 14 St. Augustine 7 (OT)

The Renegades (4-0) rallied back down seven against the Hermits (1-3) on a night where points came at a premium. Wide receiver Nate Summerville made an incredible 26-yard touchdown catch to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. Both teams had a chance to win in regulation, but each would miss 32-yard field goals. In overtime, running back Jake Barnett punched it in to give the Renegades the victory.

Williamstown 28 Lenape 21

Down 13-0 at the half, the Braves rallied in the second half to beat the Indians. Dougie Brown threw three touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to Mekhi Gamble with 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Jon Wood caught a pair of touchdown passes in the victory. Brady Long connected with Connor Kennedy for two touchdowns for Lenape in the loss.

Mater Dei Prep 35 Saint John Vianney 0

Malik Ingram had one of the most dominating performances of the 2019 season as the Mater Dei running back had 31 carries for 310 yards and 4 TD’s. The Seraphs solidified their spot as the top team in the Shore Conference. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights and post-game reaction from an incredible effort:


Holmdel 17 Red Bank Regional 7

The Hornets put together long drives in the first and fourth quarter that proved to be the difference in handing RBR its first loss of the season. John Tomasulo capped off an 80-yard drive in the first quarter with a 15 yard TD run. After Jack Chamberlain hit AJ Abarno on a 33 yard TD run in the fourth to get the Bucs within 10-7, Holmdel capped off another long drive with a Cameron LaMountain TD run from five yards out. Red Bank Catholic 21 Long Branch 7

After a scoreless first half, Red Bank Catholic’s offense exploded in the final 15 minutes of regulation to score three touchdowns and come away with a bounce-back win over Long Branch. Elijah Jules came up with yet another game-breaking run, dashing for 76 yards to close out the scoring.
