Welcome to Week 3, New Jersey high school football fans! JSZ spent the night in Newark with a pair of Thursday night Super Football Conference matchups.

Shabazz 32 Hoboken 22

Brayvion Johnson threw two touchdown passes and Curtis Woodard had a pair of TD runs to lead a big play barrage in Newark. Shabazz had a 12-6 lead at the half and Woodard scored from 55 yards to give the Bulldogs a 20-6 advantage. Hoboken got back into the game thanks to a safety and a 61-yard return by Damien Murray to get within 20-14. But Shabazz scored two TD’s in the span of 18 seconds in the final minute of the third quarter to put the game away. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Newark:


Livingston 55 Newark East Side 0

Both Livingston and Newark East Side came into this matchup winless in 2019, but it was the Lancers who found their footing for the first time this year and routed the Red Raiders in a four-quarter blowout. Livingston’s Brian Russo highlighted the night with 171 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. His hook-and-ladder grab in the final seconds of the first half was a must-see touchdown.
