DePaul Catholic 47 Pope John 15 | Super Football Conference

The Spartans’ offense is littered with elite talent and those playmakers put on the show to begin their 2024 season. Junior QB Derek Zammit passed for 259 yards and 4 TD’s, Notre Dame commit Elijah Burress had 104 yards and 3 TD’s and Boston College commit Nolan James tallied over 200 scrimmage yards and a trio of touchdowns in the win. DePaul (1-0) will reset and prepare for Maryland power Good Counsel next week while Pope John (0-1) is going to turn the page and look to their home opener against Paramus Catholic next Saturday.

Hopewell Valley 42 Montgomery 0 | Non-Conference

Hopewell Valley came to play for their first game of the 2024 season. It all started with Senior QB Milan Desai who scored two touchdowns early on and finished the game throwing for 281 yards. Senior WR Justin Klotz was unstoppable racking up 162 receiving yards on the day showcasing his footwork and speed. Top rusher for the Bulldogs last year, Ben DeCore scored a touchdown to go along with 78 rushing yards. The third quarter was all about Owen Lengle, the team’s WR and kicker who back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter and accounted for 18 of the teams 42 total points.

Millville 35 Holy Spirit 0 | Battle at the Beach

Lotzeir Brooks added another impressive accomplishment to his sterling resume by breaking New Jersey’s career receiving touchdowns record (54) on Friday night. The Alabama commit hauled in five catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns, plus an interception on defense, to lead the Thunderbolts to an impressive Week 0 win. Jaden Everett returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Jamal Wallace Jr. added a rushing touchdown in the victory.

Washington Twp. 23 Northern Highlands 8 | Battle at the Beach

Cole Beeler ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns and the Minutemen defense produced three turnovers in a statement win to open the season at the Battle at the Beach.   Washington Township WR Parris Pratt had 6 catches for 117 yards and QB Aquino accounted for 218 yards of total offense.  Northern Highlands lone touchdown came on a Nate Johnson to Chase Deluise 14 yard TD pass with a Johnson two point conversion.

St. Augustine 35 Donovan Catholic 6 | Non-Conference

The Hermits scored 35 unanswered points to handle the Griffins, as they got revenge for a pair of losses to Donovan Catholic a year ago. Julian Turney rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way for St. Augustine. Roman Coney and Ty McLeer also rushed for scores, while Ryan Stoehr connected with Liam Flynn for another Hermits touchdown. Rutgers commit Michael Thomas III scored the lone touchdown for Donovan Catholic in the loss.

Cherokee 30 Middletown South 0 | Battle at the Beach

Darwin Walker II opened the game with an 18-yard interception for TD and added a 38 yard touchdown catch to go along with a blocked field goal in a dominant performance.  Cooper Burti threw two TD passes in the win and Murad Campfield ran for 144 yards and a score.
