St. Frances Academy (MD) 31 St. Joseph-Montvale 21 | Non-Conference

The Green Knights had a 21-17 halftime lead on the #14 ranked team in the Max Preps National Top 25 before the Panthers scored 14 fourth quarter points to escape New Jersey with a hard-fought victory.  Nate Bailey had a 38-yard touchdown from Lamar Best and a five-yard TD run on a reverse in the first half.  Mason Geis scored from two yards out to make it 21-14. St. Frances took the lead on a Brandon Wills-Dickson five-yard touchown run in the fourth quarter.  The game marked the return of Augie Hoffmann as St. Joseph’s head football coach.  Hoffmann led Joe’s to its last state title in 2018 before a four year stint coaching at Rutgers and Columbia.

Delbarton 34 Iona Prep (NY) 7 | Non-Conference

A consensus top-two ranked team from New York had no answers for one of New Jersey’s best teams and elite playmakers Saturday afternoon. Buffalo commit Phil Folmar had a career day – six catches, 238 yards and three touchdowns – to power Delbarton (1-0) to a statement win. Senior QB Jadon Prinzivalli was 16-23 for 337 yards and hurled four touchdown passes in the victory. Outside of a single touchdown, the Green Wave defense was overwhelming against Iona Prep (0-1).

Marlboro 34 Colts Neck 0 | Shore Conference

The Mustangs sent a statement to Colts Neck and the entire Shore Conference that despite losing key players from 2023, they are not to be taken lightly. Christian LaFonte led the way for Marlboro, scoring three touchdowns on 18 carries to go along with 205 rushing yards. The defense for Marlboro was stellar all day with countless sacks and tackles for losses coming from the frontline. Jennaro Percodani recovered a fumble in the third quarter to give Marlboro yet another shot at the end zone. AJ Muhlbach and Jemell Bender added one touchdown each to round out the scoring for the Mustangs.
