Mountain Lakes 19 Boonton 5 | North Group 1 First Round | Boys
The Lakers’ road to a 10th straight sectional championship began Friday morning with a lopsided win. Top-seeded Mountain Lakes (13-5) raced out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and wouldn’t look back from there. Kevin Gillespie scored a game-high four goals, all of which came in that opening frame. No. 16 seed Boonton saw their season to come an end with a 7-13 record. The Lakers will host ninth-seeded Lenape Valley in the sectional quarterfinals next Wednesday.

Mendham 12 Roxbury 5 | North Group 2 First Round | Boys
A pair of hat tricks from Patch Carter and Timmy LaRosa sparked the Minutemen offense in another all-Morris County playoff matchup. Fourth-seeded Mendham (8-10) led 5-1 at the halftime break but exploded in the third quarter with six goals to pull away for good. The Minutemen look to be peaking at the right time – they’re riding a four-game win streak. Roxbury (6-14), the thirteenth-seed in this bracket, got a highlight reel goal from Anthony Skawinski in the loss. Fifth-seeded Sparta will visit Mendham in the sectional quarterfinals next Wednesday.
