Arguably the best pure shooter in New Jersey’s Class of 2020 has made his college plans public, and Big East fans better get to know his name fast.
St. Benedict’s Prep’s CJ Wilcher, a 6’5 shooting guard with a killer jumpshot, announced on social media earlier this afternoon a verbal commitment to the Xavier Musketeers.
Wilcher, who was named to Jersey Sports Zone’s 2019 All-Zone basketball team, was the top scoring threat on a Gray Bees squad that reached a 27-5 record and made it to the NJISAA Prep A state final. Wilcher quickly transitioned from a role-playing three-point shooter as a sophomore into a legitimate top-tier scoring threat in his junior campaign at the Newark prep school.

Xavier’s scouts have made a home picking up talented New Jersey players. Bergen Catholic power forward Zach Freemantle (Class of 2019) was one of their most prized signees last summer.
