Delbarton 12 Montgomery 8
NJ lacrosse fans know by now that when it comes to postseason play, all roads lead to Delbarton. The Green Wave advanced to their fourth straight Tournament of Champions Final with a 12-8 win over Montgomery. Delby went ahead 7-0 early thanks to a hat trick in the first half from C.J. Kirst. Closing in on the break Montgomery countered with four unanswered goals to creep within three of the reigning Champs, but with the help of All-American Mikey Long and LJ Millar they were able to create a deficit too large for the Cougars to overcome. Kirst finished with four goals while Millar, Long and Jack Cerza all had a pair of scores. Watch the highlights now:
Mountain Lakes 9 Summit 8
It wouldn’t be the state playoffs if there wasn’t any late game heroics. The rematch of last year’s Tournament of Champions Semifinal between Mountain Lakes and Summit didn’t disappoint as it was the Lakers tasting revenge with a 8-7 triple overtime victory. It looked as though Summit would skate away with an easy W when they got ahead 7-3 in the third quarter. However, Mountain Lakes was able to fend off the Hilltoppers as they replied with four straight goals to tie the game in the final seconds of the fourth. Two overtimes would not be enough for these two evenly matched opponents and following a timeout, Spencer Goodbar already with two goals on the day scored a golden goal to send the Lakers to their first TOC Final since 2008.
