The Shore Conference continues to fare well in the state baseball playoffs. Six local teams are through to Friday’s sectional finals and Non-Public semifinals. SSZ has highlights of the end to the Cinderella run by the Red Bank Regional Bucs who fell at Cranford

The Bucs got off to a great start on the road in the North 2 Group 3 semifinals, but could only muster one run in the top of the first before falling to the Cougars. RBR’s John Juco belted an RBI double to right field to plate Aidan Kelly in the top of the first, but the Bucs would strand two runners and never score again. Cranford loaded the bases in the first inning and scored a pair of runs on an RBI groundout followed by a Tyler Szczech flare to right field that scored a run to make it a 3-1 game. Brian Oblachinski had an amazing game for the Cougars going 4-4 with a homer, 2 runs, 2 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases. RBR as a #15 seed made an amazing run and finished the year with an 11-12 record.
