The Marauders may finally be able to claim the title as best defense in New Jersey after a statement showing on Tuesday. No. 3 ranked Newark Central (4-1) came into this game averaging nearly 31 points per game, but the Blue Devils hit a wall and were shutout at the hands of No. 5 ranked Mount Olive (5-0) in a dominant performance. Izzy Kolbucz, Gabby Drucks and Mikayla Wilkinson all made key pulls and stops throughout the game. Sophia and Stella Orellana both caught first-half touchdown passes from Drucks to help build a lead the Marauder would never give up. Newark Central’s lone points came via a safety in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. (NOTE: All rankings are via weekly SFC Coaches Poll).
