Husni wins the 2016 Zoneman
Toms River North quarterback Mike Husni became the third winner of Shore Sports Zone’s Zoneman Trophy given to the top high school football player in the Shore Conference as voted upon by the head coaches. Husni tied a Shore Conference record producing 44 touchdowns in his senior year that saw the Mariners go 11-1 and reach the state finals. Husni garnered 26 first place votes to win by a comfortable margin over second place finisher Ashante Worthy of Freehold Boro. Two tremendous senior running backs, Mike Gawlik of Jackson Memorial and Central Regional’s Mike Bickford rounded out the podium finishing in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

45 ballots cast – 43 head coaches, plus SSZ owner Rich Chrampanis and recruiting expert Chris Melvin. Each ballot receives 3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd:

Aneesh Agrawal named SSZ 2016 Football Scholar Athlete
Middletown South’s Aneesh Agrawal delivered great highlights as the Eagles starting quarterback in his senior year, but it paled in comparison to his academic achievements. From a perfect score on the ACT to winning a national competition for breakthrough technology in recognition software, the future is bright for the High Tech High School student.
