One of New Jersey’s elite 2024 guards is headed to the SEC.

Hudson Catholic guard Tahaad Pettiford announced Wednesday his commitment to Auburn University.

Pettiford, now a junior, exploded onto the scene in a statement sophomore year where he averaged 18.4 points per game for the 23-3 Hawks. Pettiford was a driving force as Hudson Catholic returned to the upper echelon of high school basketball programs in the state. He and his team captured the Hudson County Tournament title last winter.

But, Pettiford hasn’t been on the floor yet this season – he’s nursing a meniscus injury and has been supporting Hudson Catholic from the sidelines.

Pettiford’s recruitment exploded after his breakout sophomore year. Although he’s headed to play for Bruce Pearl at Auburn, his six other final schools were Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Seton Hall and UCLA.

The 6’1″ lefty is a crafty scorer who has great speed and explosiveness. He’s rated as a four-star player by 247Sports.
