Cranford 4 Middletown North 3
A Wednesday night loss to fellow Union County foe Westfield was a gut-punch to the Cougars, but they responded 24 hours later with a resounding win.
Despite being outshot 32-16, Cranford (4-2) was able to make good on their opportunities to score a meaningful rebound win against Middletown North (0-4-1). Senior forward Patrick Gosselin scored a pair of goals to power the win while goalie Jake D’Aquino stopped 29 shots in the process.
Cranford’s Colin Coakley and Dylan Boys also accounted for goals in the win. The Cougars had to stave off a 6-0n-4 power play in the final 1:45 of regulation to earn the win, showing an impressive level of defense down the stretch. Joey Wall, Jack Turner and Dylan Harrison scored for the Lions.
