Bernards 0 (5) Gill St. Bernard’s 0 (4) | Somerset County Tournament Semifinal | Boys

Mountaineers goalkeeper Kyle Morris made 13 saves – including two monumental stops in a shootout round – to help send third-seeded Bernards (9-2-2) back to the county final for the third year in a row. Over 100 minutes of scoreless soccer was played between two talented teams. Second-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s (7-5-1) got a great performance from senior keeper Mike Dumiec in the loss. Bernards will face top-seed Pingry in the final at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 from the Torpey Athletic Complex.

Pennington 3 Robbinsville 1 | Mercer County Tournament Semifinal | Boys

(1) Pennington advanced to their eighth straight Mercer County Tournament Final following a 3-1 comeback victory over defending Group 3 State Champions Robbinsville. A goal from Alex Ivanov got Robbinsville on the board first in the opening 10 minutes of regulation for a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, in the opening three minutes of the second Pablo Carnicer-Cozar tied the game for Pennington, Carnicer-Cozar also had the go-ahead score, brother Alvaro Carnicer Cozar finished with a goal. Pennington looking for an eighth straight MCT Title will take on (2) Princeton on 10/21 at Hopewell Valley Central High School.

CBA 1 Middletown North 0 | Shore Conference Tournament Semifinal | Boys

Christian DeOliveira’s redirect of a Sean Galvin service in the 12th minute was the only goal of the match as the Colts return to the Shore Conference Tournament final to seek a third consecutive championship.

Howell 2 Toms River North 1 | Shore Conference Tournament Semifinal | Boys

Nick Turturro scored in the first half and then delivered a free kick that was redirected by Bryce Ocholla which proved to be the game winning goal in Howell’s return to the SCT final.  Toms River North scored moments after Howell went up 2-0 but the Rebels hung on to set up a rematch with CBA this Saturday night.

Eastern 0 (5) Shawnee 0 (4) | SJ Coaches’ Cup Semifinal | Girls

A hard-fought 100 minutes was not enough as the Vikings edged the Renegades in penalty kicks to advance to their second-straight Coaches’ Cup Final. Araba Abanyie finished with eight saves and came up with a clutch save in the fourth round of PKs to put Eastern (16-1-2) in position to advance. Mackenzie Borbi racked up ten saves in net for third-seeded Shawnee (13-2-1). Eastern will try to win back-to-back Coaches’ Cup titles as they will face fifth-seeded Sterling on Saturday.
