The coronavirus pandemic has impacted New Jerseyans in nearly all aspects of their lives. Go ahead and add college recruiting to that list.

The Patrick School’s Zarique Nutter, a 6’5 wing and JSZ All-Zone team member this season, announced Monday evening his verbal commitment to join St. Peter’s University. A huge senior season put him square on the national recruiting map.

Nutter picked up offers from Nebraska, Maryland, TCU, George Mason and New Mexico this winter yet wasn’t able to visit any of those schools after the coronavirus pandemic closed all high school and college athletics.

However, the Newark native earned the chance to play close to home in Jersey City next winter for Shaheen Holloway, the reigning MAAC Coach of the Year and former St. Pat’s All-American.
