Early in the second period of the 2022 Bergen County Grat 8 Tournament final, signs pointed to Northern Highlands possibly being able to pull away and lock up the upset of the year.
But Don Bosco’s grit and determination derailed that thought in a matter of two minutes and 12 seconds.
Trailing 2-0 and having to fight off a five-minute major, the Ironmen proceeded to score three-straight shorthanded goals to retake the lead and never look back.
Don Bosco (12-3) ultimately scored four shorthanded goals in a raucous second period. It was all the juice the Ironmen needed in a 5-2 win over Northern Highlands (12-3-2). The Ironmen have appeared in all 10 Bergen County Tournament championship games and this win is their ninth overall.
