Season openers continue across the state into the second day of the season. We get a rare showdown between a pair of traditional non-public powers while two of the best girls’ soccer programs clash in a massive game to begin the year. Stay tuned all night as the highlights roll in!

Rutgers Prep 3 Freehold Township 1 | Girls

In 2023, No. 3 overall Rutgers Prep defeated No. 1 overall Freehold Township 2-1 after a game winning goal by Rutgers Prep junior Addison Halpern. Today in 2024, Rutgers Prep is now ranked No. 1 and Freehold Township is at No.3, but Rutgers Prep still got a win without their senior leader. Halpren was not on the pitch for the Argonauts because she is currently playing with the US Under 20 National Team in Colombia. That didn’t stop Rutgers Prep from getting a 3-1 win in her absence. Junior Nyla Lopez opened up the scoring for Rutgers Prep in the first half with a goal off of a free kick. Then it was freshman Kyrah Lormil and junior Olivia Robinson who rounded out the scoring with one goal each for Rutgers Prep. Senior Bucknell commit Gaby Parker scored the lone goal for Freehold Township in the second half.
