It was a tremendous day for softball as JSZ brings you highlights from an extra innings thriller between top-ranked teams and the Ocean County Tournament title game!


Notre Dame 3 Donovan Catholic 0 (8 innings)

Madalena Creo’s two-run home run in the eighth inning helped the Irish break things open and hand the Griffins their first loss of the season. Houston commit Rylee Michalak was magnificent in the circle as she picked up a complete game shutout and racked up 16 strikeouts in the win for Notre Dame (13-0). South Florida commit Julia Apostolakos turned in a strong performance for Donovan Catholic (16-1), striking out 12 over eight innings in the loss.

Jackson Memorial 10 Point Pleasant Boro 5 | Ocean County Tournament Final

Sophia LoPiccolo sparked a six-run fifth inning with a two-run double and went the distance on the hill to lead Jackson Memorial to its first Ocean County softball title since 2004.  The sixth-seeded Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first before the Jags answered with three runs in the second.  LoPiccolo went 2-3 with two runs and two RBI’s, Dominique Lopez had two triples and a pair of RBI’s and Brianna Halasnik had a two-run triple in the victory for the 14-0 Jaguars.
