Thanksgiving weekend in the Garden State kicks off with JSZ football coverage as our cameras travel across New Jersey to bring you another evening of action packed games. Stay tuned as we continue to post highlights from Thanksgiving Eve.

St. Joe’s (Mont.) 20 DePaul Catholic 9

It was a night of goodbyes in Wayne. DePaul head coach John McKenna was coaching in his final game. Four-star RB Audric Estime was playing in his final game. Estime shined one more time with 217 yards and a touchdown in his last game with the Green Knights, which ended with raw emotion and tears of happiness.

JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights and reaction:

Jersey Sports Zone’s coverage of St. Joe’s (Mont.) is brought to you by Rothman Orthopaedics.

Rahway 21 St. Joseph (Metuchen) 14

After being shut down for 14 days, Rahway (5-1) defeated St. Joseph (Metuchen) (3-5) 21-14 in a Big Central Conference comeback thriller. The Indian’s trailed 14-0 midway through the third quarter when quarterback Nasir Arribas on consecutive drives not only threw for a pair of touchdowns, but also came up with a key interception. Arribas would toss another score in the fourth quarter to put Rahway ahead and a late incomplete pass from the Falcons in the end zone would end the game. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights and post game reaction:

New Providence 34 Governor Livingston 14

Charlie Barth had three touchdown runs including a 51-yard sprint in the fourth quarter to give him 25 for the season as the Pioneers win the Mayor’s Trophy for a second straight year. Tied 14-14 at the half, senior Gavin Duffy suffered a serious leg injury on the second half kickoff and was taken off the field on a stretcher and to the hospital. New Providence scored 20 straight points in the second half to honor their fallen teammate. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from New Providence:

St. Augustine 27 Lenape 20

The Hermits close out 2020 in dramatic fashion as they survive a late-scare from the Indians. St. Augustine took a 27-13 lead late in the ball game after Kayne Udoh’s second rushing touchdown of the night. Brady Long and the Indians went to work engineering a comeback bid that fell just short. Senior Lenny Dolson came up with the game-ending sack on his final play in a Hermits uniform.

JSZ’s James Mooney has the highlights from Richland:

Bernards 49 Immaculata 6

Entering their final game of the season on a seven game win streak, the Bernards Mountaineers would make it eight. The Mountaineers got out to an early start and would score all of their 49 points in the first half! Quarterback Teddy Gouldin had five passing touchdowns in the win which cemented his name in history as the all-time leader in passing touchdowns at Bernards.

JSZ’s Kenneth Bradley has the highlights from Bernardsville:

St. John Vianney 35 Lacey 14

Pete Pezzullo ran for 162 yards and 3 TD’s on just nine carries as St. John Vianney denied Lacey head coach Lou Vircillo’s quest for his 300th career win. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Holmdel:

Williamstown/Ocean City Cancelled at Halftime

It was an ending suitable for 2020, but that didn’t make it any easier to accept for the Braves and the Red Raiders. Williamstown and Ocean City came in as two of the top teams in South Jersey. The Braves raced out to a 28-6 halftime lead, before the news came down. A Williamstown player, not present at the game, had tested positive for COVID-19, and the game would have to be abandoned. JSZ’s Mike Frankel has the story from Ocean City:
