Bergen Catholic 72 Montclair Immaculate 58 | Boys

Will Richardson paced Bergen Catholic with a team-high 25 points – 16 of which came in the fourth quarter – as the Crusaders pulled away from Montclair Immaculate late to secure an opening-day win. Bergen Catholic had eight different players score in the win. Montclair Immaculate was led by Jayden Brown’s game-high 27 points in the losing effort.

South River 74 Spotswood 55 | Boys

South River picked up its first win of the season with a dominating 74-55 victory over Spotswood. The Rams pushed the tempo early in the first half and jumped out to a 36-23 lead at the break. South River would extend the lead to as many as 20 heading into the fourth quarter. Dimere Smith finished with 17 points while Lazaro Rodriguez had 20.

Haddon Twp. 47 Haddon Heights 44 | Boys

The Hawks built a 16-point lead heading to the fourth quarter, but had to fight off a furious Garnets comeback to hang on for the win. Brendan Mulligan and Tyler Levins paced Haddon Township with 12 points apiece in the victory. Isaha Waters and Isaiah Turner scored 15 and 13 points respectively for Heights in the loss.

Manasquan 61 St. Rose 30 | Boys

Ben Roy scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half to lead a dominant effort by the state’s #4 ranked team in the debut of their new home floor. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Manasquan:


Manasquan 55 St. Rose 52 | Girls

Separated by less than five miles, two of the Shore Conference’s top girls programs squared off on opening night. The game was close all the way through with Manasquan controlling. Abby Antognoli of St. Rose had a game high with 26 points, 15 coming from beyond the arc but her efforts weren’t enough as four Warriors netted double-digit points. Mary Donnelly led the way with a 15 point 12 reb double-double.
