Mater Dei Prep 74 Freehold Boro 30
Kenny Jones scored 19 and Elijah Barnes had 16 points and five blocked shots in a dominating Seraphs effort in the opening round of the Albert E. Martin Buc Classic. Mater Dei raced out to a 10-0 lead and controlled the entire game. The top seed advances to the semifinals and faces #4 seed Central Regional in the semifinals. A trio of Golden Eagles carried the scoring load in Little Silver. Maks Gruszecki led the way with 19 points, Denis Corbin added 18 and Zion Hardy had 17. The Eagles had a big second quarter to take a 27-19 halftime lead and built the margin to 12 in the third quarter before the Bucs stormed back. Nasir Williams was on fire for RBR scoring 19 points in the second half and 21 for the game. His three pointer to end the third quarter cut the deficit to 41-40. A Williams three would give the Bucs a lead, but Central pulled away in the fourth quarter. Watch the highlights from this 4-5 matchup:
Barnegat 56 Fort Hamilton (NY) 37
Carson Francisco scored 17 and Mike Revello added 14 as the Bengals pulled away in the third quarter at the Bulldawg Classic in Rumson. Leading 32-29 after two quarters, Barnegat outscored the Brooklyn school 18-6 in the third quarter. Barnegat is now 3-1 and will face the host school Rumson-Fair Haven on Thursday night in this three team showcase. Watch the highlights of a quality Bengals win:
