The NJSIAA sectional lacrosse playoffs are officially underway, and JSZ has cameras all over the state to capture the action from the first round!


Bridgewater-Raritan 8 Watchung Hills 3 | Boys Group 4 North


 

Brady Kurdyla and Patrick Cullen each had three-point performances to lead a well-balanced Panthers attack to a win in the opening round of the state playoffs. Fifth-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan (9-4) led 4-1 at the break and didn’t look back. Cullen, Collin Kurdyla and Jarrett Dugenio all had two goals apiece in the win over No. 12 seed Watchung Hills (4-9). The Panthers advance to face Hunterdon Central in the North Group 4 quarterfinals later in the week on Thursday.

Washington Twp. 11 Hightstown 5 | Boys Group 4 South

Alex Kunicki scored five goals to lead the sixth-seeded Minutemen over the 11th-seeded Rams. Richie Hughes added three goals for Township (10-6), which advances to face #3 Monroe in the South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinal round on Thursday.

Southern 14 Eastern 4 | Boys Group 4 South

The Rams storm past the 13th-seeded Vikings and pick up a first round win in the SJ Group 4 playoffs. Ryan Sininsky and Jake Washco each scored four goals in the win for fourth-seeded Southern. Ben Sloves scored a pair of goals in the loss for Eastern. Southern advances to the quarterfinal round and will host fifth-seeded Howell on Thursday.

Allentown 15 Lawrence 7 | Boys Group 2 South

(4) Allentown (12-2) defeated (13) Lawrence (9-5) to advance to the NJSIAA South, Group 2 quarterfinals. Despite trailing 2-0 early in the first quarter, Allentown fought back to lead 7-5 at halftime. In the second act the Redbirds would continue their scoring frenzy thanks to a big afternoon from junior Jake Searing. Searing finished with six goals while Liam DeLorenzo and Jake Raff each had a hat trick and added four assists.

Red Bank Regional 16 Governor Livingston 4 | Boys Group 2 South

Ryder Villani had five goals and fellow sophomore Henry Spencer added four goals and 2 assists to lead Red Bank Regional to its first state playoff win since 2011. Ryan McGee had 3 goals and 3 assists and Gordon Ogden had 10 saves in goal for the Bucs who will face Somerville in the second round on the road this Thursday. Red Bank Regional 17 Lacey 4 | Girls Group 2 South

Paige Kelly and Madeline Kelly combined for 14 goals to lead the Bucs into the second round of South Group 2. Sophomore Paige had 9 goals and 3 assists while Madeline had 5 goals and 2 assists. Watch some of their best goals in the Bucs win at home prior to the boys state playoff game.
