Monroe begins the year 1-0 with a 6-5 comeback victory over No. 15 St. Joseph (Metuchen). Joe’s led 5-2 heading into the fifth inning when Monroe scored three runs to tie the game which remained knotted at 5-5 until a game-winning RBI from junior Lucas White in the eighth inning.

Vineland 15 Holy Spirit 0 (5 innings)

The Fighting Clan brought plenty of lumber to the yard on Tuesday as Vineland cruised to a season-opening win against the  Spartans. Yoan Feliz hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning as part of a seven-run outburst in the frame. Benny Andreoli allowed one hit over four innings with four strikeouts in the win for Vineland (1-0). Connor Lamenteer took the loss on the mound for Holy Spirit (0-2).
