The state playoffs got underway in boys soccer on Tuesday as JSZ brings you a trio of first round matchups from all over the Garden State. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Harrison 6 Mendham 1 | North 2 Group 2 First Round
The Blue Tide began their 2024 playoff run with an overwhelming offensive performance that spanned across both halves. Chris Pereira assisted on two goals to Frank Barrera in the first 10 minutes to set the tone for third-seeded Harrison (15-5-2). Harry Hughes delivered the singular goal for fourteenth-seed Mendham (5-10-4) in the loss. Harrison will host Lyndhurst in the quarterfinals, setting up an all-NJIC meeting on Friday. Those two teams split wins in two regular season matchups earlier this season.

Red Bank Regional 3 Brick Memorial 1 | Central Jersey Group 3 First Round
Alex Salvo had a hat trick in the second half to give Red Bank Regional its first state playoff win since 2015. Brick Memorial took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a heer by Angel Cabrera before Salvo did his magic in the second half. Trey Cummings assisted on two of Salvo’s three goals with the other coming on a penalty kick. The Bucs will travel to Steinert on Friday in the Central Jersey Group 3 quarterfinals.

Manalapan 6 Trenton 1 | Central Jersey Group 4 First Round
Ethan Lustig had three goals and two assists to lead the Braves (16-3-1) to a dominant first round effort at home. The Braves will host Old Bridge in the CJ Group 4 quarterfinals on Friday.

Toms River North 3 Egg Harbor Township 1 | South Jersey Group 4 First Round
The Mariners motored past the Eagles to score a first round victory and advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Frank Toledo netted his first goal of the season, while Christian Assante added his eighth goal of the year in the victory for Toms River North (14-6-1). Gio Bongiorno scored his seventh goal of the season in the loss for Egg Harbor Township (8-10). TRN will host 15-seed Cherry Hill East in the SJ Group 4 quarterfinals on Friday.
