Robbinsville 11 Verona 5 | Group 2 Championship

Robbinsville (22-4) defeated Verona (18-8) 11-5 to capture the Group 2 State Championship. The Ravens winning their fifth State Title opened the game with a two run home run from Brynn Hopkins before capitalizing on a five run third inning to lead 9-0. Verona would cut the deficit to four in the bottom of the fifth, but would fall short of a comeback. Brynn Hopkins finished 3-4 with three RBI’s.

Clayton 3 Whippany Park 0 | Group 1 Championship

Clayton – playing in their first ever group championship – leaned on Meadow Lake’s right arm to win the first state title in program history. Lake threw a complete game, one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead the Lady Clippers to a rousing win. Clayton broke a 0-0 tie in the fifth inning then tacked on two more runs in the sixth.

Livingston 3 Hillsborough 2 (8 Innings) | Group 4 Championship

Trailing 2-0 through five innings, the Lancers rallied for runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th to win the school’s first ever softball state championship. Hailey Reuter plated Nathalia Dilanni with an RBI single in the 7th to force extra innings and Megan Downey won it on a sacrifice fly in foul territory that saw Hailey Meierhofer tag from third to score the game winning run. Caitlin Mullen came on in relief to pitch four shutout innings surrending no hits and striking out five to pick up the win.
