(1) Hunterdon Central 7 (9) Freehold Township 4 – Diamond Nation Game of the Week – Central Group 4 Quarterfinals
Hunterdon Central’s run back to both of the Central Group 4 and overall Group 4 championships is still alive in well this season. After Freehold Township took a 4-3 advantage in the third inning, Lafayette commit Pete Ciuffreda came through with a mammoth home run to take back the lead in the fourth. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the extended highlights and post-game reaction from Flemington:

(1) Hamilton West 3 (8) Hopewell Valley 2 – Central Group 3 Quarterfinal
No. 20 Hamilton West advanced to the Central Group 3 semifinals with a close 3-2 victory over eighth seed Hopewell Valley. The game was tied 1-1 following a bases loaded walk in the third, a rain delay would stall the game, then Jack Haynes in the fourth inning drove in a run on an RBI single to help the Bulldogs go up 2-1. As the game began to wind down in the sixth, Hamilton West looked to Danilo Perdomo for salvation with two outs and a pair of base runners in scoring position. Perdomo didn’t disappoint as his two RBI double would be the deciding factor of the matchup. The top seeded Hornets will face No. 6 Wall in the semifinals. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:
Thank you to Princeton Orthopaedic Associates for sponsoring both our Hamilton West and Hopewell Valley coverage!
