Two elite pitching performances dominate the Thursday highlights from the diamond on JSZ. Check out North Hunterdon’s Hunter Brown and Edison’s Connor Murphy pile up the K’s!
North Hunterdon 3 Somerville 0 (4 inn.)
North Hunterdon baseball (11-5) picked up their ninth win in a row on Thursday as the Lions defeated Somerville (12-5) 3-0 in a four-inning, rain-shortened affair. Despite the abbreviated game, Penn State commit and NH starter Hunter Brown made the most of his time and certainly impressed the pro scouts on hand. The star senior pitched all four innings, struck out 11 batters, and gave up one hit as his only baserunner. Brown ended up striking out three more in the fifth, but those would not end up officially counting due to the game being called in the bottom half.
Zach Davis and Yale commit Alex Famolari each had an RBI on the day, and Davis ended up hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth which also would not end up counting towards the final score.

Edison 5 St. Thomas Aquinas 0
Connor Brown pitched a 1-hitter with a career high 15 strikeouts to help Edison clinch a division title for the first time in 13 years. The Monmouth University commit gave up a single in the first and hit a batter in the 5th but dominated the Trojans lineup the rest of the way. Edison (10-4) bounces back after losing to the Trojans (6-10) on Tuesday 3-2 with Murphy giving up the walk-off hit in relief. The right hander now has a 0.50 ERA in 28 innings with 55 strikeouts and only 8 walks.
