Thursday is sectional semifinal day in girls’ soccer. Once again, the Jersey Sports Zone team takes you around the state to bring you some great playoff action.


Livingston 2 West Orange 0 | Girls | North 1 Group 4 Semifinal

The Lancers defeated the Moutaineers for the third time this season to punch their ticket to a sectional championship game appearance next week. Daniella DiIanni broke a scoreless tie in the second half with a magnificent 27-yard blast for the go-ahead goal. Izzy Kilelee padded the lead with PK goal to secure the win for second-seeded Livingston (18-0-1) over third-seeded West Orange (14-4-2). The Lancers will face top-seeded Ridgewood in the final on Monday.

Manalapan 1 Monroe 0 | Girls | Central Jersey Group 4 Semifinal

(3) Manalpan advanced to the Central, Group 4 Final with a 1-0 victory over previously undefeated (2) Monroe. After a scoreless first half, Vanessa Sarf’s goal in the 56th minute would be the deciding factor of the match for the game’s only score. The Braves advance to face (1) Freehold Township in a rematch of last year’s Title Game.

Wall 1 Holmdel 0 | Girls | Central Jersey Group 2 Semifinal

Erin Farrell’s header off an Erynn Richey corner in the first half was the difference as the defending section champs return to the final and a rematch with Rumson-Fair Haven.  Wall (13-3-1) has nine shutouts in its last 11 games.

Central Regional 1 Cherokee 0 | Girls | South Jersey Group 4 Semifinal

Riley Billhimer picked the perfect moment to score her first goal of the season. The junior netted the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute to send the Golden Eagles to their first sectional final since 2014 after a hard-fought battle with the Chiefs. Binghamton commit Erika Kangas corralled eight saves in the shutout victory for second-seeded Central (18-1). Jada Branford had nine saves in net for sixth-seeded Cherokee (9-6-4). The Golden Eagles will host Kingsway for the SJ Group 4 championship on Monday.
