Toms River North 0 (4) Cherokee 0 (3) (PKs) | Boys | Group 4 South Championship

100 minutes wasn’t enough to settle this one, as the Mariners pull off a comeback in penalty kicks to top the Chiefs and win its third-straight sectional title. Senior Dawson Kanuik came through in the clutch for the Mariners, stopping two shots in PKs to open the door for the Toms River North comeback (15-2-2). Jake Nagle, Bryant Garcia, Jared Brown, and David Anderson all scored in the shootout for the Mariners. Chris Meder, Alex Wieliczko, and Miguel Graterol each scored in PKs for Cherokee (13-5-1). Toms River North will take on Freehold Twp. in the Group 4 semifinals next week.

Moorestown 1 (5) Cherry Hill West 1 (4) (PKs) | Boys | Group 3 South Championship

The Lions are partying like it’s 1994! West won its first sectional title in nearly 30 years, outlasting the Quakers in penalty kicks. Gabe Faust scored a goal for 10th-seeded Cherry Hill West early in the second half, before Justin Talbot equalized with a goal for fourth-seeded Moorestown just minutes later. Lions keeper Jason Coburn converted the fifth and decisive PK to clinch the title.

Rumson-Fair Haven 2 Holmdel 1 (2OT) | Boys | Group 2 Central Championship

Alec Pentikis delivered a magnificent upper 90 strike from a sharp angle in the 93rd minute to give Rumson-Fair Haven its first sectional title in boys soccer. Luke Pentikis fed Antonio Santos in the 52nd minute to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. A Brendan Worobel free-kick nine minutes later resulted in an own goal to level the match at one.
