The weather might be cold, but things are heating up in high school basketball with several big time showdowns across the Garden State on Thursday night. Plainfield shows out in a Union County clash with Roselle Catholic, Bishop Eustace wins a battle of undefeated teams against Camden Catholic, and Hopewell Valley tops Princeton Day to pick up its seventh-straight win. Plainfield 70 Roselle Catholic 54 | Boys
Stellar efforts from NaJai Hines and Micah Gordon fueled the Cardinals to their first win against Roselle Catholic in over a decade. Hines had a monster 22-point, 18-rebound double-double and Gordon dropped 19 points as Plainfield (9-1) sends shockwaves throughout the Union County Conference. This win was the Cardinals’ first against Roselle Catholic (6-3) since Feb. 1, 2014. Jalen Grant dropped a team-high 17 points in the loss for the Lions.

Bishop Eustace 42 Camden Catholic 36 | Boys
The Crusaders remained unbeaten on the season after leading wire-to-wire to hand the Irish its first loss of the season. Dillon Adomanis led the way with a game-high 17 points in the victory. Brayden Killeen came alive in the fourth, scoring nine of his 11 points for Bishop Eustace (8-0). Seamus Bieg knocked down a trio of three pointer to finish with a team-high 12 points in the loss for previously-unbeaten Camden Catholic (7-1).

Dean Mantuano had 21 points and went 8 for 12 from the free throw line to give Hopewell Valley (8-2) a seventh straight win. Milan Desai had 15 points with four three-pointers for the Bulldogs. Gary Jennings led Princeton Day (3-5) with 15.
