St. John Vianney 33 Southern Regional 27

Anthony Knox delivered a pin in :21 seconds to break a 27-27 tie at 126 pounds to give the Lancers a big dual win in a battle of state champions.  Southern is the defending Group 5 state champs, while St. John Vianney is the reigning Non-Public B state champion.  The Lancers won the first four matches to take a 14-0 lead.  Southern rallied from 18-6 down with back to back pins by Nicholas Daddona and Levi Foote at 190 and 215 to tie the match 18-18.  After SJV’s Rocco Dellagatta scored a forfeit at heavyweight, Southern would take the lead with a win at 106 and a pin from Anthony Mason at 113 pounds to give the Rams a 27-24 edge.  SJV’s Matt Gould got an 8-3 decision at 120 pounds to tie the match at 27 setting the stage for Knox to bring the house down with his fall.
