The 2022 high school football season is complete as we wrap up an exciting weekend at Rutgers with the Group 2 and Group 5 state championship games. JSZ has all the highlights and extended post-game coverage!!
Toms River North 28 Passaic Tech 7 | Group 5 State Championship
The Mariners magical 2022 season came to a perfect ending. Toms River North completed a perfect 14-0 season with another signature win for the program. Micah Ford tossed a trio of first half touchdown passes and Josh Moore’s 80 yard run in the fourth quarter iced the win for the Mariners. Toms River North yet again used the ground game to their advantage – they rushed for 279 yards on 42 carries. Passaic Tech (11-3) saw their great season come to an end. Trashon Dye led the way with 117 yards and the lone Bulldog touchdown on the day.

Caldwell 18 Rumson-Fair Haven 14 | Group 2 State Championship
Harry Boland had two touchdown runs and eight tackles on defense and the Caldwell secondary made an epic stand in the red zone with the state title on the line to give the Chiefs (13-0) a second straight perfect season and a winning streak that has reached 28 games. Rumson-Fair Haven had a 7-6 halftime lead before Caldwell took the lead on a fake field goal that saw Louie Anemone throw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Michael Mignone at the edge of the end zone on a controversial play to give the Chiefs a 12-7 lead. Boland galloped 19 yards to make it an 18-7 lead before RFH quarterback Owen O’Toole scored from a yard out late in the third to make it 18-14. Rumson was able to get the ball to the 10-yard line in the final two minutes before Caldwell kept the Bulldogs out of the end zone to seal the victory.
