Brian Sheehy’s two run homer in the 6th inning gives RBC a 2-1 win over Lacey.  SSZ has highlights of the Caseys win along with quarterfinal wins for Toms River South and Toms River North

Red Bank Catholic 2 Lacey 1

Brian Sheehy’s two out towering homer in the sixth inning sent the Caseys into the SCT semifinals.  The game was a pitcher’s duel between RBC’s Austin Nappi and Lacey’s Tom Corragio.  The Lions broke through in the top of the sixth with an RBI single from Anthony Elefante to give Lacey a 1-0 advantage.  Corragio got the first two outs in the sixth, but RBC rallied with Aiden Supp reaching via error setting the stage for Sheehy’s blast.  RBC moves on to the semifinals and will face #1 seed Toms River South.  Watch the highlights of a game that featured some great defensive plays from the Lions and Caseys along with the clutch hit from Sheehy:

Toms River South 1 Pinelands 0

Sophomore Matt Hartshorn needed just 57 pitches in a complete game shutout and Tom Campo drove in the game’s only run with an RBI single to center to give the top seed a spot in the SCT semifinals and a matchup with Red Bank Catholic.  Joey Ventresca was outstanding on the hill for Pinelands, but the Indians had two key hits in the fourth that was the difference in the game.  TJ Scuderi led the frame with a triple off the wall in left center.  Campo’s two out base hit that dropped in center gave TRS a 1-0 lead.  Hartshorn had only one strikeout but induced numerous groundouts and pop ups.  Watch the Indians win on Wednesday afternoon in Toms River:

Toms River North 5 Freehold Township 2

Jared Bellissimo threw six innings and went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI as the Mariners held off a late rally from Freehold Township to reach the SCT semifinals.  TRN raced out to a 3-1 lead at the end of two innings, but Freehold Township thought they had tied the game at three in the sixth.  The Patriots got a sacrifice fly from Cristian Corcione to make it a 3-2 game.  Ryan Ford would steal third base.  Nick Collucio lined out to left and Ford scored from third, but an appeal by Toms River North took the run off the board as the umpire ruled that Ford left the bag before the out was registered.  Toms River North loaded the bases and scored two insurance runs when Austin Feigin’s slow roller was thrown away on the the throw home allowing Craig Larsen and Mike Nyisztor to score.  TRN will face third seed Wall in the SCT semifinals.  The Crimson Knights scored a 1-0 win in eight innings over defending champ CBA.  Watch Toms River North’s quarterfinal victory:
