Long Branch 25 Neptune 13
Kyle Davidson threw two TD passes and Jermaine Corbett had a pair of first-half touchdown runs to give Long Branch a hard-fought win in its 2019 opener. The Green Wave jumped out to a 19-0 lead until Neptune’s Willie Gross ran back a kickoff in the final minute of the first half 85 yards to make it a 19-6 game. The Scarlet Fliers were down just six heading into the fourth, but Davidson threw a 10-yard dart to Jayon Farra to put the game away. Rutherford 35 Manchester Reg. 32
Talk about a see-saw game! Rutherford and Manchester went toe-to-toe in an NJIC Colonial Division clash, and it was something to see. Bulldogs’ running back Kris Guzman led Rutherford with a trio of rushing touchdowns while the Falcons were paced by sophomore Sammy Viera’s four-touchdown performance. After all that, it came down to a 4th-and-11 in the final seconds.

Lawrenceville 26 Pingry 14
After going 1-9 last year Lawrenceville kicked off 2019 1-0 after an exciting 26-14 comeback victory over Pingry in their season opener. Big Red got ahead 13-0 early thanks to 30 yard rushing score from Running back Jacob Fenton and a deep ball connection from Quarterback Drew Friedman to Jake Simpson. However, Pingry would score twice in the second quarter to lead 14-13 at halftime. In the third quarter Fenton and Friedman would each run in an additional TD to help Lawrenceville walk away with the victory. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

West Deptford 31 Paulsboro 14
The Eagles took it to the rival Red Raiders from the start, building a 24-0 first half lead. West Deptford QB Aaron Graeber ripped off a number of big runs, and also had an interception on defense. Gavin Shields and Tyshawn Bookman each rushed for a pair of touchdowns. Nick Pellegrini threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Bhayshul Tuten for the Red Raiders in the loss.

West Orange 29 Montclair 6
Adonis May was a one man defensive wrecking crew with a scoop and score defensive TD, a blocked punt for a safety and an additional fumble recovery to help Darnell Grant win his first game with the Mountaineers. Mason Murdock threw a pair of TD passes and Shakhi Carson added an 11-yard TD run. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from the final game of the Rumble on the Raritan at Rutgers:
Union 20 Curtis 12
The Union Farmers defeated the Curtis Warriors from Staten Island, NY at Rutgers University for the Rumble on the Raritan. Quarterback Andrew Sanborn threw two touchdowns, one to Rutgers commit, Ahmirr Robinson, and the other to Kayir McBride. Diante Wilson also finished with a rushing touchdown.

Jackson Memorial 24 Brick Memorial 17
Shore Conference fans were gifted with some fireworks after rain pushed back the Week 0 start for these two Ocean County teams. Jackson Memorial running back Will Towns led a stellar rushing attack with 187 yards and one score. The Jags’ defense also accounted for eight sacks in the win. Watch all the highlights from Brick:

Cedar Creek 34 Salem 12
The Pirates improved to (2-0) on the season, as they built a 34-0 lead on the Rams on the road. Louie Barrios threw for three touchdowns and ran for another score. Malachi Melton, Jeremy Taylor and Aaron Richardson all had touchdown receptions in the win. Manny Reid also rushed for a score for Cedar Creek. Kaciir Street had a touchdown catch for Salem, as the Rams fall to (0-2).
